Over time, I’ve come to realize that one thing that is essential to achieving success is following through. This is something I’ve seen play out time and time again in both my personal and professional lives. Following through can mean many different things across many different situations but in general, I take it to mean – Responding to a particular situation in a manner that shows an honest and genuine care for the feelings and interests of others in the context of what has been previously discussed or promised or is anticipated. Yes, it’s kind of a mouthful but it feels pretty accurate to me.Read More →

I was recently listening to an episode of the Learning Leader Podcast with Admiral William McRaven as the guest. He’s had quite the journey in his career, which started as Navy SEAL and led to a position of Commander of the United States Special Operations Command from August 8, 2011, to August 28, 2014 (note the date range as he was directly involved in taking down Osama Bin Laden). A Setback is Never the End, but More the Beginning of Something New One thing that was mentioned on the podcast that came as a surprise was that McRaven was once fired from his position asRead More →

Us Moms and Dads have little to no time to ourselves on a daily basis. What little time we do have needs to be strategically thought about to try and make the most of it. Without a game plan, your early morning wake up or hour during nap time may be squandered, never to be seen again. A few days a week, we try to utilize the little time we do have to get in some exercise. This helps us stay fit, stay sane and keep up with our little monsters. One exercise that we’ve found to be great at making the most of ourRead More →

I have three little ones on the home front. Unless it is one of the rare days when all three happen to be napping at the same time, it is pretty much a constant state of madness. It is normally pretty challenging to see past the screaming, throwing of toys, hitting, etc…and easy to get frustrated with any one of the crazy things going on. Look Beyond the Madness On some days, however, I try to look past all of this and realize that what is going on at a rapid pace is growth – all kinds of growth. It is far too easy to let the stresses of the day get the best of you. Every day is unique and you can be sure that each one is going to challenge you in a unique way. Before starting up your day, take a moment to think about this and accept it. How you do that is up to you to decide since no two of us are alike and there is no one size fits all approach…You may want to simply lay in bed for a few minutes before you get up and think about the day to come. You may want toRead More →

One theme that we focus on throughout this website, and throughout our lives, is balance. The ability to consistently achieve health, happiness and success is directly dependent upon the ability to achieve balance in life. With so many things vying for our time and attention these days, it is getting increasingly harder to achieve balance, but it’s certainly possible. This page is home to a series of posts that share some ideas on how you may be able to achieve balance in your life and some lessons we have learned throughout our hectic lives. Of course, everyone is different so adapt these thoughts for yourRead More →

Feeling your best consistently isn’t something that just happens by chance. Feeling great today isn’t likely to happen just because you woke up and wished it would be that way. Getting a great night’s sleep isn’t likely to happen because it’s been a long day and you’re exhausted. These are hard lessons that I’ve learned over time and unfortunately continue to learn on a frequent basis. For me, I feel my best when I’m able to get in a groove and stick to a routine that works for me day over day. I personally think everyone is very different and therefore, what works for meRead More →
